DIRECTORATE OF SOCIAL WELFARE
The directorate of social welfare came into existence in 2013 in the Diocese of Evo. It was one of the chaplaincies created by His Lordship Rt. Rev. I.U Ordu JP during the Synod held at Okporo Deanery.

To touch the lives of people through care and so bring them close to Jesus.
OUR MISSION
To actualize Jesus’ ministry of care through the following areas.

The directorate shall be the main advisory body on social welfare matters in the Diocese.

To formulate welfare policies and programmes for the Diocese with the approval of the Diocesan board.

To recommend areas of welfare assistance to indigent members of the Diocese.

To embark on periodic visits to hospitals, prisons, orphanages, homes for the elderly.

Strengthen welfare action towards widows and orphans in the Diocese.

To respond to emergency situations within the diocese.

To work in partnership with provincial and church of Nigeria committee on social welfare.

To raise an action committee on HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, etc.

To hold awareness seminars on health in Churches, etc.

To perform any other welfare assignment that might be committed to them by the Bishop and Diocesan Board.

To ensure that every church in the Diocese establishes a functional social welfare committee to manage welfare matters in the church.
