SUB-THEME: PRINCIPLES OF UNLIMITED ADVANCEMENT AND ALL-ROUND FRUITFULNESS
TOPIC: A LIFE OF WORSHIP
TEXT: John 12:32; Acts 16:25-26
Worship is one of the ways through which we magnify the name of the Lord. Worship, among other definitions, means “the expression of reverence and adoration of a deity.” It is the honour or show of reverence for a divine being or supernatural power; in this case, God almighty.
We worship God with our substances, time, talent, and voices; above all, with all our hearts (Deut. 6:4-5; Ps. 86:12). One of the things that happen when we worship God is that He is moved to do for us that which we cannot do for ourselves. In Acts 16:25-26, the Bible says: “But about midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God [worship], and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and every one’s fetters were unfastened.” This is one outstanding example of the power of worship. The Lord Jesus Himself said: “And I, when I’m lifted up [through worship], will draw all men to myself” (John 12:32).
Beloved in Christ, as we are trusting God for unlimited advancement and all-round fruitfulness this year, let us learn to engage ourselves in the life of worship. Remember that all you need is in the hands of God. This is the basic reason why you need to worship this God. Like Paul and Silas, make worship your lifestyle. Also, worship Him not only when things are rosy but even in times of adversity. Learn to lift up His name in all circumstances. He will grant your heart’s desires.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to learn to worship you in spirit and in truth no matter the circumstance. Create in me a hunger and thirst for you. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
