SUBTHEME: WHY WE SHOULD HOLD ON TO THE PROMISES OF GOD
TOPIC: HE HAS PROMISED, HE WILL NEVER FAIL
TEXT: HEB. 10:23
God is both a covenant/promise maker and keeper. When He promises, he keeps to them and makes sure he fulfils what he has promised to do. For instance, Joshua 21:45 says, “The Lord kept every one of the promises that he had made to the people of Israel." (Good News)
Not one of all the LORD's good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled!
Why? Because it is impossible for God to lie. God is a promise-keeper. God has never failed His children, and He will never fail you! The Bible gives us this jaw-dropping assurance: "Here is a trustworthy saying:...If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for God cannot disown Himself." (2 Timothy 2:11-13)
2 Cor. 1:20 reminds us that the promises of God were in Christ Jesus: "For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."
God's promises are based in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is unchangeable.
Hebrews 13:8: Jesus Christ is [always] the same, yesterday, today, [yes] and forever (to the ages).
God's promise to those that put their trust in him in Jeremiah 17:7-8 remains the same to this day.
God's faithfulness guarantees the fulfilment of those promises.
God's faithfulness is the bedrock upon which we build our faith and trust in Him. It is His unwavering commitment to us, His children, that He will always fulfil His promises, regardless of the circumstances.
His love for us never wavers, His mercy is new every morning, and His grace is sufficient for us. Just trust Him, and you will see His word made manifest in your life.
Prayer: Lord, may I enjoy the fulfilment of every promise you have made to me.
May I possess every territory that you have promised to give me.
May I peacefully settle and enjoy my promised land, as you give me rest on every side.
