SUBTHEME: EVIDENCE OF ADVANCEMENT AND ALL ROUND FRUITFULNESS
TOPIC: PERSONAL SELF-DEVELOPMENT
TEXT: 2 PETER 1:5-9
The word "development," according to the Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary, is the gradual growth of something so that it becomes more advanced, stronger, etc.
It is also the process of creating something new or more advanced.
Personal self-development in the context of our meditation implies the process of intentional submission to growing in the knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ through teachings, training, programs, and other godly events. Our progress this year will be dependent on the knowledge of God that we possess through growth in His grace by His divine power that works in us. 2 Peter 1:2-3.
Personal self-development that will provide us with the platform for the expression of this year's theme can only happen through knowledge (practical wisdom) obtained by dedicating ourselves to learning God's truth in the scriptures and putting that truth into action through intentional, consistent, committed learning of the principles of the kingdom.
According to Peter 1:5–9, we must seek to develop and grow in faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, and charity. This will represent the evidence of our fruitful growth in the Lord and will remove any form of barreness and unfruitfulness in our path to progress.
We have been assured of progress in this year's theme; it is pertinent therefore to know that the extent of that progress will be dependent on the amount of God's truth in the scriptures we are willing to put to work.
Prayer:
* Lord, grant me the enabling grace to study your word and put the truth into action.
* O Lord, I pray for a revelation of your glory.
