TOPIC: UNLIMITED ADVANCEMENT AND ALL ROUND FRUITFULNESS IN THE FAMILY
TEXTS: Psalm 127; 128
Families are the most important source of love, support, guidance, and role models in people's lives. They shape their physical and spiritual progress from the moment they are born and begin to grow.
A family will experience advancement and all-round fruitfulness by following these steps:
a) Live by faith (Heb 10:38a)
b) Grow in the word (Jos 1:8)
c) Manifest the fruit of the spirit and also use our different gifts (Eph 4:7)
d) Fear the Lord: Prov 14:27
e) Intentionally work out unity and love in the family (Psa. 133).
Evidences of unlimited advancement and all-round fruitfulness in our homes includes:
a) Peace:
Psalm 127:2 says, “It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth His beloved sleep.“ Many people work from dawn to dusk today, but they do not have real peace of mind and joy. But when God is at the centre of our lives, He gives us peace that passes all understanding (Phil. 4:7). He gives us good and peaceful sleep.
b) Protection:
Psalm 127:1 says, “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.” The Lord watches over His people. He neither sleeps nor slumbers. He keeps us from all evil and protects us in our goings and comings.
c) Prosperity:
Psalm 128:2 says, “For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.” You will enjoy the fruits of your labour and the blessings of God upon your family.
Many times, someone else eats the fruit of our labour. It may be a creditor, doctor, lawyer, or cheater. But God will keep us from all unnecessary expenses and bless our finances. He will keep us in good health (3 John 2). He will open the heavens, the storehouse of His bounty, to bless all the work of your hands.
d) Prolonged Life:
Long life is considered a blessing and a sign of divine favour (Job 42:16, 17; 5:26). So notice what Psalm 128:6 says: “Yea, thou shalt see thy children's children, and peace upon Israel."
Note: It is only a family built by the Lord that will stand, with the accompanying blessings.
Conclusion:
Every family that belongs to God shall have all-round fruitfulness to the glory of God, notwithstanding the pressures of the season.
